For there are thirteen, yes, thirteen Yule Lads, who descend one by one in the days before Christmas, starting on December the 11th. Each claiming they are sons of sons of a long-lost mountain troll, named Gyrla, or perhaps just cousins of trouble itself. No two tell the tale alike.
