Summer Postcard

My Dear Friend,
Many people believe that Christmas is all we think about here in the North.
I must confess that it makes me smile whenever I hear such things.
For though Christmas is dear to us, the world does not stop turning once the snow has melted.

Today I sit beneath an old pine overlooking a meadow bright with summer flowers. Donner and Blitzen wander among the grasses, content to graze and enjoy the sunshine. Ulvie is nearby, attempting to skip stones across the stream. I fear he spends more time searching for the perfect stone than actually throwing one.
The forest is quiet today.
No great adventures.
No pressing tasks.
No journeys to undertake.
And yet I have come to believe that such days are among life's greatest treasures.
We spend so much of our lives preparing for the next thing that we often forget to enjoy the moment we have been given.
So today, wherever you may be, I hope you will take a few moments to step outside.
Feel the warmth of the sun.
Listen to the wind in the trees.
Watch the clouds drift overhead.
And remember that even ordinary days are gifts.
Your Friend,
Herr Klaus
